hands on the IR …
today I had double carpal tunnel release surgery .. more annoying than painful but I now can barely type with the bandages on, so of course instead of working I can try and update my journal at least with this information. It took a couple of different nerve conduction tests, and 2 specialists before they all agreed that the carpal tunnel was impeding the PT and the nerve root problem. Supposidly the CT was compounding the numbness in my hands .. clearly something is working since after the surgery I no longer have the numbness during specific motions .. but of course now I have the surgery soreness instead.
Most folks do one surgery at a time, but aside from being stubborn .. I really had to make sure I was all done with the work, and fully recovered before my trip to Indy to see the MotoGP .. otherwise I wouldn’t be taking very many pictures at all. Who knows I might even be able to get some outdoor volleyball in before the season ends.
The last bits of the outdoor work are now finished, the new porch and a split rail fence in the back .. things look nice and now Elena’s garden is way overgrown .. next year we’ll have raised beds and that’ll be it for outdoor projects.
We also lost Big Sparky a large goldfish a week or so ago .. we think that she was actually egg bound since there was no sign of disease .. but lots of spring/summer head to belly bumping (apparently the males try to “force” the eggs out to spawn)
Right now the waterfalls are off awaiting cleaning .. turns out that the lava rock my contractor used for the bio-filter wasn’t really rock .. it was some kind of water soluble material which explains why our pond portion never really cleared up. He’ll be back this week to clean it up and we’re switching to a nylon mesh based filter media (couldn’t find enough nylon scrubbies)
Well the forearms are getting a bit sore so its off to rest them .. more when the nephew shows up in a few weeks, and perhaps even info about our long overdue open house.
