Elena's Baking PortfolioWarning these can take a while to load Elena's been taking baking classes and here are some of her school projects One of her first birthday cakes Here's her chocolate box, complete with intricate filigree An early trial of the children's bday cake Here's the finished product, good thing it was right around Halloween Look carefully at this egg, all the colored decorations were done with a toothpick by Elena because there were no paint brushes at the class. Also some of the later pictures may be in better focus because I was experimenting with the macro setting. This was Elena's final project, she got an A+, note that there are 2 cakes here, the smaller one (without the large starfish on top) was for tasting as she was donating her final project to the Earth Vision International Environmental Film Festival that was being coordinated by her sister in Santa Cruz. Since you can't tell the scale between the two pictures, the one with the big blue starfish on top is the larger one, it weighed 15lbs with a 10" base, 3 layer cake and the rock was a 2 layer 8" cake. The smaller one with the 3 red starfish on the top only weighed 4lbs and was a 3 layer 6" cake. For Elena's final chocolate project she combined her chocolate skill with her baking to produce a chocolate cabbage, only the heart of the cabbage was cake, and the leaves were all chocolate. The following are the pictures of the cake in various states of construction. On Elena's last final, for baking, she kept with the home grown chocolate theme by making cocoa potatos. The final project looked like a farmer's basket |
