Who are these people?

Had a chiropractor appointment yesterday and they really worked my hip, its
still feels odd but doesn't really hurt. They did some ARS (active response stretching?)
on it, but I couldn't quite tell the difference during the lunchtime volleyball.
That night I had dinner over at Francisco's house in Redwood City, it was game time
galore, Rod, Caroline and James were there and we bbq'd steaks and Mahi, pretty yummy.
Then we started in on the Pool and Foosball. It was fun but I haven't played either
(seriously) in a long time I was pretty rusty.
Tonight was basketball, was running better and the hip felt better, more normal, even
though its a bit tender to the touch now (I guess that stretching really worked) and after
dinner my bp was 150/83 yahoo!!. Small world, there is this guy at bball that looked kinda
familiar, his name is Mark, so I asked him were he was from, he grew up in Sunnyvale, but
spent a couple of years in Seattle working at the US Bank on Broadway, and to top it
all off he's a Yee, and is kind of active in the family association down here. I think
he knows some of my sisters friends cuz they're around the same age (early 30's)
My full copy of Starcraft showed up today, but I'm going to hold off until I get
my Sonics list up for the ticket distribution .. really.

Monday I had a massage, but sunday night I had taken a benadryl, so was pretty
tired all monday day. Even took a nap but my bp was still 160/100. Ugh, Tuesday
was better, no benadryl, played bball and vball, even ate out but by the time
I got home (11pm or so) my bp was 140/80, I just gotta quit those antihistimines.
Today I had dinner with Kent and Cheryl at Seto's, a Japanese resturant right by my
place that is pretty good. Kent had to go back to work, so Cheryl and I headed up to
Red Robin (Foster City/ San Mateo?) for a mud pie before I dropped her off home. Strange
though I noticed that there is also a Cuchina Cuchina up there too -- maybe mall
developer from seattle?
Today I also got an email from Jenny (from SkiASIA, Sun Valley) for some odd reason she's
now into one of those "I'll show you my personal ad req if you show me yours" at first
I thought she wanted our (the sun valley group) opinion of her answers, but she actually
wanted to see ours -- I'll have to post mine when I get a chance, but, like lots of things
on this site ... only those who know me really well, will be able to figure out which
parts are really true ;)
I fussed with my webcam for a couple of hours trying to get the new driver to work, it
kinda works, but it was too dark for the camera, and you know, it really helps not to
screw the focus ring all the way in (doh! that cost me at least an hour and a half)
But now that it works, I'll have to figure out how to put up regular pics of the kitty
perch to see if they're hanging out downstairs or not. Even after all that frustration,
my bp was still only 160/93 not too bad after a full day with no exercise.
Site News: so much to do, but I'll have to make time to do my sonics schedule this
week, cuz the season is right around the corner.
Tech News: finished the Starcraft demo, soo much fun that I had to order the full game,
I may never sleep again, well maybe will make some time for Quake III. The only big
thing I have left to add is a CD-ROM burner -- then I can permenetly archive all my
digital camera pictures .. speaking of which, I've cataloged the pictures from Julie and
Jonny's wedding but still don't have a wedding page up yet -- and after that still
have Cheryl and Kent's to do.

finally got to sleep in, yesterday I washed the car, I have new wool wosh mits with
little scrubbers on the reverse, works really good on all that bug/sap gunk on my hood.
Last night was dinner with Bar at West Portal (Hogshead ??) at a hole in the wall family
steak place -- it was pretty good, we went because they had a little butcher display
case for all of their meats right in front, New York Steak, med-rare *yum*. Afterwards
we went to see Nurse Betty at the Metreon, it was pretty entertaining.
Today I just vegged out most of the day, caught up on my laundry and the olympics, and
watched The Princess Bride on DVD. There was football, but the Seahawks weren't on so
I skipped it. I even managed to pass some time playing Starcraft .. have just started
figuring it out and it's pretty entertaining watching all those little guys duke it out.
Later I went out to see The Way of the Gun, it was pleasently violent for an indie film,
pretty well acted, but a bit esoteric in their cinemitography -- at times it wanted
to be an art house film, with all the little subtle inferences, and at other times
(the best times) it was like a John Woo flick.
Tech News: am taking my airport to work to see if I can kick back on the couch and
get stuff done ;)
- 9/23/00
boy am I tired, managed to play bball yesterday and wasn't quite the slug as normal
I think the hip is getting better slowly -- going to the chiropractor on thursday
probably really helped. The floor at the gym was very slippery so I still can't tell
if my cuts are slow because of my hip or not, but I was running stronger than last
tuesday for sure.
Last night I was up till 4am trying to get my new airport to work as a bridge on my
work vpn -- things were haywire, and then my whole dsl was out, so I went to bed,
turns out that my hub was stuck, and after resetting it today (around 11am) everything
was back to normal, including my wireless work vbn *whee* now no excuses not to work
at all.
It rained yesterday, overcast most of the day, was just like Seattle, felt really good
but hopefully I'll get in some outdoor play this weekend some time. Tonight I'm supposed
to get together with Bar and see a movie, but Caroline has relatives in town so maybe
volleyball tomorrow instead of today..I guess I should at least wash the car.
Tech News: still can't get the webcam working ... called their tech support and
they were going to email me a new driver but it didn't show up before I left work, but
at least there's hope.
- 9/20/00
Ice, ice, baby ... I'm really, really glad I bought more bio-freeze. I thought my
hip was feeling better, but I think its still too stiff, doesn't hurt as much, but
when I played bball before vball I started getting shin splints, and a sore lower
back, then I noticed that I continually was losing my balance and was unable to
make any sharp cuts at all. Thought maybe it was just the floor being slippary, but
at the vball gym the same thing was happening, not that I'm the best passer in the world
but I was having problems getting my feet set, lots of slipping and then trying to compensate
with my upper body on anything moving forward ... needless to say it wasnt a pretty site.
Last night was a very unrestful sleep, didn't take any drugs, but I probably should have
today I have a very sore neck and stiff lower back, cant even quite tell if my hip
is sore or not cuz I can't quit get enough rotation to stretch it out. Good thing I have
a chiropractor appointment tomorrow.
Work News: stock is up, waaaay up, and everyone who I convinced to buy my stock
owes me dinner and a gift ! ;) Also since we've finally shipped new software (with
my code in it !!!) we're having yet another picnic lunch tomorrow at work.
Tech News: got my web cam but I can't seem to get it running yet, I think it may be a
driver problem with my older box but we'll just have to see. Still have to try and
finish off all of the wedding pictures, and my new airport (for work) still hasn't
arrived yet.
Health News: bp was 150/85 yesterday after all of the sports, and 130/83 today after
a nap, not bad, at this rate I might not explode anytime soon.

Sore, hurt, sore, owwwww. Yeah that was about the day at the tourny on Sat. It was
listed as a draw tourny but was really more of a rotating draw, the women got 5-6 games
while the men got 4 (there were more men than women). It was a pretty fun tourny, but I
had to play Sam the first match, on wet grass, good thing is that he didn't bagel me, but
his partner took first, and he tied for 2nd so I'm sure he appreciated keeping us in single
digits.
I did pretty well overall (3-1) but the point differential wasn't all that good (0, +3, +3
+14) I think I finished mid-pack -- but I did get to play with Mel and Karen (+14 !!!) and
they were very free swinging, just what a setter wants to see ;). During the 3rd game
I tried reversing directions but my left foot slid out, and my right knee/hip drove straight
into the ground -- very sore, I couldn't rotate my hips at all, but at least I could run,
it's really a good thing that it was reverse otherwise I'd have had to have defaulted on
the last match.
As it was it was still a blast, there was a bbq (hotdogs, hamburgers, but no tacos ;) and
lots to drink (even pear cider !!) there were more than a few drunken incidents but over
all it was pretty fun and safe. I think the best ongoing joke was probably Guch (sp?)
continually talking about his upcoming bachelor's party (that night) and always asking if
people preferred hotdogs or tacos (If you can't figure that out, ask Karen ;) I didn't know
very many people there, but they were all pretty friendly, and funny, especially Guch and his
sidekick Marge, she's a pip for sure.
That night I spent most of my time sleeping and icing my hip, its a good thing that
I bought some more bio-freeze (new roll on applicator !!) it really came in handy.
Sunday was more volleyball at the Marina with Caroline -- there wasn't much play early
but later on we had enough for a few reverse and womens only games -- good thing too
cuz my hip, while not as painful as sat night, was still sore -- it'd get better after
rest and then get sore about halfway through the game. Still 2 days in a row is a pretty
good outing for me. Dinner was at James' that night, since his sister Jocelyn was in town,
for some odd reason though she cooked instead of him, still was great food though. Booked
out early so I could get some more ice on the hip and snooze quicker.
BP after vball has been running right around 140/85, but after work today it was 135/90
I'm sure its the mental stress ;) Tonight I managed to (finally) put together my Poang
chair, its very comfy, and now I can just leave the sofa tarp'd so that the kittys don't
use it for a litter box.
I've not been having good luck mail order lately, its been 2 weeks and I still haven't
seen my SpikeNashbar order (it has Caroline & Candice's bday gifts), my web cam
hasn't shown up yet, and I don't even think my airport basestation (for work) has
shipped yet. It'll be a busy week when all of that finally shows up.
- 9/15/00
Ugh, I was a slug on the court, didn't run well or shoot, but at least my bp is down
now (130/84) I knew all I needed to do was exercise more --- hopefully my body will
feel better tomorrow at the tourny. I'm starting to take my bp daily, especially now
that I have one of those automated cuffs. Strange though, I can actually make the lower number
drop by about 5 points by relaxing -- maybe I just need to do that more ;)
Sent my deposit in for my ski trip .. should be fun, Jackson Hole, and I've been trying
to talk Nancy into going too, maybe even Kent & Cheryl if they have any time off left
after their honeymoon.
- 9/14/00
Things are much better now that I finished that work that was due. Yesterday I managed
dinner with Cheryl, where we got to catch up with all of the various wedding stories
(yeah, yeah, pictures still to come).
Today I went house hunting again, saw 4 more places, nothing really special though, I think
that some of the ones I saw before were a bit better, its a good thing that I have
plenty of time to look.
Tech News: still waiting for my new webcam, but today I also ordered another airport
base station (the apple wireless communications station) so that I can run wireless
at work.
- 9/12/00
Busy, busy weekend, had a good run at bball, but sprained my wrist a bit, Saturday
was fun, it was our company picnic, they cordoned off our parking lot and had a big
fair -- there was music, lots of food (american, asian, mexican and caribbian) and even
a full fleged petting zoo. Since I was working under a deadline I made time every few
hours to go down and eat -- but I managed to miss the fortune teller and henna tattoos.
Sunday it was Marina time, only Caroline made it out there with me, but we picked up
on a net, where it was a small world experience for her (folks with history from LA) but
we had lots of laughs, even if we didn't play all that well -- it was quite the work out
all the same (5 of us on a net) I think I got more games in that day than the previous 3 weeks
combined.
Monday and Tuesday was mostly work, trying to get code done for my deadline wed. Good thing
though, I actually got most of it done today, so I could check out the new digs they were setting
up for the big customer shindig -- the closed off the first floor, and we could only get
to-go food from the cafeteria. The even checked ID's at the stairs and only people badged
for the customer event could get in. Oh well, doesn't matter much as tomorrow is our
Engineering all-hands meeting, followed by a picnic at a local park. Good thing I finished
my code or I'd have to skip it all.
Tonight was the rev-coed league again, we played kinda spotty, but were rotating in an extra
guy since John had initially asked for a sub, and then work let up so that he could
play.
Tech News: I ordered a spiffy new web-cam, it should be here in a week or so, and then I can
work on getting my kitty-perch cam up and going.
House News: will be shopping this week, still haven't put together that new poang chair from
IKEA but since Candice isn't in the apt now I guess its no big rush.
- 9/7/00
Exhaustion from the weekend, Julie & Jonny's wedding was pretty fun
but I was really tired from all the travel -- the most hilarious part was
when they couldn't get the unity candle lit, and Julie was up there laughing.
Monday, I went to Duane's to play some sand ball, spent most of the day
there and was totally exhausted afterwards. It was nice to see the gang
again -- especially since I'll be playing with Duane and Kerry at a tourny
down here next month. That evening I went to drop my skis off at Angel's and
we tried the new Thai place by her condo -- it was decent, but not great. Later
we watched "My Dog Skip" on video but Tango was so wiped from their camping trip
he didn't see any of it.
Tuesday I was supposed to play my vball league, but one of the nets was
broken, so our pool lost the coin flip and we got to go home early -- good
thing too, cuz Alissa and I had a mini-Nikita marathon, and I only got 4 hours
of sleep before catching the plane to work.
Wed I was supposed to house hunt but Ron's car was on the fritz so we rescheduled
to next week -- gonna have to hurry though, since Miki & Jack bought a place
I'll have to be keeping up soon ;)
Today was a chiro and massage day with lots of little errands. My company stock has
been bouncing like a yo-yo, up then down with aquisition news, then up again -- large
swings too (10+ points)
It looks like I'm losing my roommate already -- Candice thinks she's allergic to the
cats so she's going to try the commuting thing from SF starting this weekend.
Site News: I took over 100 pictures at each wedding, its gonna be a bit of time before
I get through them all to post them, it probably won't be till late next week since
I'm now under a deadline for work and I'll be pretty busy.
- 9/3/00
The whirlwind weekend continues ... friday was a massage, and
boy did I need it. I then managed lunch with Barri for her birthday
and finally ended up visiting Matt at the Bon where I proceeded to buy
a new suit (black) and sport-coat (grey). I lucked out in that
everything was on sale, and Mat really knows his stuff -- good thing
too cuz it's not like I'm gonna know if his fashion advice is wrong ;)
Unfortunately, it all needed to be fitted, so I'll be picking them up
in Nov when I'm back for the sonics games.
Later that night it was out to Sea Garden and Godzilla 2000 with Carey
and Jo -- and I got to see their new bike, a Triumph Super Speed Triple
in that nice turbonium green (ala the beetle).
Sat was the early trip to SJ, boy the park and ride was really full,
its a good thing that I left on wed. The kittys were strange, they
hid under the bed for the first hour that I was home ... I think that
Fila knew I was going to find all of places he peed on. Its a good thing
I put tarp over everything thats hard to clean.
That evening was Kent & Cheryl's wedding, it was pretty fun, although
the minister called him Kent Wood, and then later pronounced Woo as Whoa.
The food was excellent as was the desserts and the wedding cake, although
if you know Cheryl, that wouldn't be a surprise. Kent's side of the
family is pretty wild, I especially like how they tried to 'pie' Kent
with the wedding cake ... I think that's on tape somewhere. I took plenty
of pictures, but it probably won't be till next week that I get them
all up.
Now I'm back in Seattle and resting up before heading out to Julie &
Jonny's wedding - that one should be pretty lively, as the volleyball
crowd doesn't hold back much.
