This has been a week of pain ... first I played bball, and cracked skulls with another guy going for the ball. Then when I (finally) go to the doctor, he's kinda upset with my bp (gee 170/109 go figure) so he puts me on Lotrel immediately, and then refers me to an Ear Nose and Throat guy since I may have sleep apnea -- which would explain why I've been tired for the past 15 years, that and the snoring, which is a symptom -- though I still suspect some kind of infection, even though sleep apnea also has a direct effect on blood pressure.

Fila is still diabetic, and his blood sugar was bouncing around all week, in fact his urination pattern also changed so now I have to give anti-biotic shots too. Then the past weekend I've been woken up by jaw pain, first I thought it was a sore neck from the collision, then I thought it was a side effect of the Lotrel, until the weekend then as it got worse, it got more localized to a tooth, one that just happens to have a crown on it. Got a dentist referral from Jack, but that dentist was on vacation, the office, though, recommended an Endodontist (they do root canals) to have them check if I need one.

Went in this afternoon, nice guy, showed me an xray of a rather large abscess, so he drilled away and then put a temp filling in (he drilled right through the crown !!) Now I have anti-biotics to take, as well as some decently strong pain pills if I want. At least I shouldn't be in tremendous pain on my trip. In about a week or so I get to go back and have him finish the job. I guess this abscess has been growing for a bit now, I wonder if it (or the low level pain supression) contributed to my bp.

This doctor also plays bball (asian group in palo alto) so he invited me out for that, hopefully after I get back from LA I'll get to check it out. This past Sunday was also the 1st time outdoors for vball -- not surprisingly it was harsh (what with the tooth pain and all ;) in any case Miki and Jack looked to be in mid-season form, so I'm going to have some catching up to do.

I've been on the Lotrel for about 4 days now, and haven't noticed any significant change in bp -- though I do have a bit of indigestion/twitchyness at least it doesn't seem to stop me from exercise, I'll really know tomorrow after bball. I guess I'll have to call him before I leave since I'm also expecting the test results to see if I have a bladder infection too. Last year was the year of the house, I guess this is the year of the doctors.

Last week was the first time in a long while that Kiz and my schedule didn't work out, since this is a short week for me, it'll be two before we get a chance to hang out again, well at least I get to see Lori in LA.

Well today wasn't too bad, weather seems like it's turned nice again, but I ended up taking Fila in for another check cuz he's started peeing more again, now they think we may be giving too much insulin, so I have to drop the dose to (hopefully) stop his blood sugar from rebounding so much.

I also managed to order my new futon mattress, it should be here next weekend, so I'll probably start moving upstairs then. Still don't know what I'll do about the baseboards though, and I probably should do all of the touch up work before I move things upstairs.

I've also started working on that backlog of pictures, got most of the old party pictures up (aloha sunday, and xmas with lori) but I still have to get to caroline's (and Rod's) going away parties.

Finally found a doctor, will be going in next week, but felt better so I played bball on tuesday, kinda sore wed so skipped bball and went to dinner (Thai) and a movie (Heartbreakers) with Kiz, who skipped soccer practice due to her broken wrist. I even managed to track down my old med records and arranged to have them sent down here, it's been a long, long, time since I've had a full checkup.

Have been spending more time watching "Weakest Link" just to see what kind of shots the hostess takes at the contestants, its pretty funny, and the questions aren't all that easy.

The floors are all done, supposidly I can move upstairs this weekend, but I'll probably wait a week just to make sure it's solid. Still have to find a carpenter that can do stair railings and the baseboards, so won't be putting a lot of things next to the walls for awhile.

Bummer too, found out that Rod's new resturant had a snafu (broken water main) and now their opening is delayed 2 weeks which means I won't be eating down there when I visit in may, but I will get to see the place "under construction".

Painful week, fell during volleyball, and hurt my hip, so the next night I thought I'd try and work it out with bball, but to no avail. Things are still sore. Saturday it was cold, so I (finally) turned on the heater, even still I had to open the windows upstairs cuz the first coat of finish got put on friday. That night it was dinner with Karen, Cheryl & Kent, at Gordon's -- food was pretty good, and the desserts were excellent, but it was an early evening for me since I was kinda tired.

Managed to get my taxes mailed saturday, was going to mail them friday but my co-worker got me a bit paranoid about the mail, so I stood in line sat morning to send them cerified. Now I have to make sure that the money got transferred into the account on time.

Sunday I vegged out all day, tried to rest, still feeling under the weather so I'm gonna try and look for a doctor down here to check out my bp, sinuses and the headaches. Took Fila to the vet today cuz I suspected something was wrong, and sure enough his blood sugar was way up (around 4-500) so its time to start the shots again to get his diabetes under control. I hope its just the stress of the move, and the floor work during the day.

Wow, hardly any time for updates, the parents and sisters were in town for one night so they got to see the new place -- plenty of room, even if there weren't plenty of real beds.

The trip south was hectic, was supposed to watch Lori play a vball tourny at the beach, but it was raining (the whole day !!) so we wandered off to Fashion Island down in Orange County to shop for a bit before I headed off to my mom's bday party.

The dinner was pretty fun, about 30 relatives, at a pretty good place in Monterey Park named NBC Seafood. The best was when everyone started beaming games from pda to pda, seemed like there was always another fun thing to be had.

Sunday I flew back early to attend Rod's going away party, awesome food as always he (and Francisco) had roasted a whole pig, hopefully his new resturant (ZaZen, corner of Washington and Pacific in Venice Beach CA) will be open by my next trip. There were lots of people at the party and we ended up hanging out and playing pool till pretty late.

This week is Tax-hell week, large checks to be written, and plans to be made. Speaking of which, I've finally gotten my IRA stuff semi-settled and re-invested, next up (after taxes) will be the estate planning.

Not much going on socially, still managed a weekly outing with Kiz, but she recently broke her wrist playing soccer, so she may be taking it easy (drugged out I'm sure) for a while. I did manage a lunch with Lisa (my cousin's ex-roommate) and that was pretty fun and this saturday its out to Gorden's House of Fine Eats with Karen, Cheryl & Kent. I've been too busy to get up to SF to see Lily, but should be fixing that soon.

The floors upstairs are almost done, maybe by next week sometime, but it could be a few weeks out since he has to do another job soon and might not get the finish work done. That just means more time to figure out where to put things, I'm still living out of boxes, and Fila's not all that happy yet. I think he may finally be getting used to the hardwood floors, but its been cold down here lately and I haven't turned the heat on yet.
