I hesitate to write this because I don't think this streak of bad luck is quite done yet. Last Saturday I crunched my car pretty badly, was T-Boned by the second lane while turning left out of a parking lot. I swear the lanes were clear, but there is a sweeper right hand merge a short distance away so the other car could've made it through there before I got through the first lane and started across the second. Luckily both Elena and I weren't seriously injured, shaken up a bit, she has a sore neck and arm, my back was still a bit stiff anyway so it didn't see like a big deal. I do remember bumping my head but there was no bruise or lump even though I was a bit woozy. I guess its a good thing that both windows were down, otherwise we both probably would cracked our heads pretty good.

The cop who did the incident report says regardless of the other cars movements (and his speed did not appear to be excessive) it was my responsibilty to ensure that the lanes were clear before proceeding, so it'll probably go down as my fault.

In any case the cars now in a shop, a State Farm "Service First" repair shop that was recommended by my mechanic. Kinda neat, they handle everything with the insurance adjusters. Lots of damage, it looks to be ~$8K, and I have a $1K deductible. It'll take at least 20 days to repair, and they're backed up till July 10th or so. I did take pictures so maybe when I feel better I may put them up, but more likely as before and after pics. Hopefully it'll drive well, but at least they didn't total it. Now I'm riding the bike everywhere, but I may try and find a cheap, beater, truck so that I can haul stuff and my bike if need be. Yeah my insurance covers a rental but it only handles 80% up to $500 max, not near enough for the 2 month repair time.

Sunday, we just tried to recover from the shock, didn't do much, especially driving, but we did manage a movie (Minority Report, pretty good). Monday, because I was feeling "about the same" as before the accident I caught a ride to my vball league, everything was fine for a couple of games, but then I reached for awkwardly for a pass and ended up re-tweaking my back ... ugh, now I can barely tie my shoes. Luckily after I get on the bike, the seating position doesn't aggravate the problem. At least it seems to be getting better bit by bit, with the icing and stretching.

Today we were out shopping and I had some spam message on my phone, so after erasing it I put my phone back on my hip (or so I thought) but about 20' away I noticed it was missing, we scoured the area in Target, but couldn't find it, we called it but it was off line. I suspect that someone near the checkout lines walked off with it, I'm hoping it was someone's kid just playing with a new toy and they'll turn it in to lost and found, but its not promising. Good thing I noticed quickly though so I managed to turn the service off in about 10 minutes (after failing to call it)

I went online to see how much it would cost to replace, but they no longer sell this phone (Nokia 8260, AT&T Wireless) odd cuz it's the only "small" Nokia they had, it may be that one of the stores has it in stock still, but I won't have time till Saturday to go look, well theres always hoping someone will turn the phone in. Now everyone will have to page me instead.

Oh, and now I'm also the victim of a spammer, no, not getting spam, but apparently the latest scheme is to "forge" spam mail with another address, so end up seeing all of the spam "bounces" in my personal mailbox, not much I can do, may make some time to track it down, but I've been pretty busy at work so I'm less than motivated to look after I get home.

The only good thing that happened this week was that I went to visit a new dentist who was recommended by my Uncle Dexter ... seems like a nice guy, much more straight forward than the "aggressive, bait-and-switch" guy I had before, even still he found 2 cavities that need work (that the other dentist didn't mention) but said that my crowns seem fine (although the other dentist was scheduling them for replacement) so next week I get to have them filled right before the 4th. A numb jaw in a helmet should be interesting.

Ok, I'm up to a week's lag, not so bad considering, work's been busy, but the weathers so good that I started playing outdoors at work too, mostly doubles, but too much work cuz I tweaked my hip/back so that it was a good thing there was no bball last week.

This past weekend was a vegging weekend with Elena, mostly errands and TV, but she did manage to get a great deal on a First Gear riding jacket ($60 on a $400 jacket !!) now if my body just felt better I'd be riding more..well actually it would help a bit if it wasn't so darn hot too, either that or I have to get a pair of mesh riding pants and matching jacket ;)

Today my hip felt better, good thing too cuz it was the first night of my new IVL BB men's team, mostly the fun folks from that NCVA travesty of a team. We did ok, even though we hadn't played together that much. Most of the other teams, while at a BB level, appear to have played together for a while.

Lots of new stuff on my site, I finally got pictures up of my Old bike, Barri's twins, Deby's baby, and Tracy's wedding reception now if I could only find the time to transfer the movies I made of Barri's twins.

Yeah, so I still haven't figured out a new schedule that will let me update more frequently. Part of the problem is that its been soo warm that I'm just vegging out. In fact its almost too hot to ride the bike I think I'll have to go find new hot weather jacket and pants.

PT seems to be working pretty well, managed to play vball twice in one day and only the right shoulder was getting a little sore from the heavier (outdoor) ball. The problem left shoulder held up pretty well, even though bball.

Last weekend was the sunnyvale arts and wine festival, as always it was kinda croweded, plenty hot, and the (netapp) volunteer booth was very busy. This past weekend it was Michelle's (Elena's sister) graduation, spent most of the weekend in Santa Cruz with her mom and both of her sisters (one up from LA too), where it was both hot and windy. Did manage to get to gilroy for a bit of shopping though. New to the house is a pair of large pillows and a krups waffle maker. Now if I can only find time to use them.
