The only other interesting thing is that IKEA opened
up their new store in East Palo Alto ... way closer, lots of parking but
mucho crowded on the this (the first) weekend. Of course I dragged Elena there
today ... unfortunately we didn't really buy all that much (couldn't use the
grand opening coupon since you needed to spend $250) oh well, we'll go back
after the crowds die down.
Oh almost forgot, my small world story from the party ... its actually a volleyball
thing. Mary is Caroline's friend from the wine biz. I call her my pseudo neighbor
because she used to live in Sunnyvale (now in San Jose) but she still made it up
to the city for many of Caroline's events. I hadn't seen her in over 2 years.
We were chatting about south bay volleyball, and the fact that I wasn't playing
much anymore but wanted to play more. She said that her team was occasionally
looking for subs in IVL and would keep me in mind ... but I used to sub in the IVL
coed leagues so I asked who was on her team...There's this youngish chinese woman
named Sue who sounded familiar .. and when I checked on what night they played,
it was the same night that I sub'd. Then it struck me, so I had to ask ...
"Is this the same Sue who came up to me to complain about my setting being illegal?
The one that I told, I'll hold it as long as possible till the referee complains?"
Oh yeah, then it struck us both ... we kept thinking we looked familiar just from the
league but it was Caroline. And Mary had gone out of her way to drag Sue away from
me, and to apologize not just that week, but the week after. It was pretty hilarious,
we talked about it (and Sue) for awhile. If I end up setting for that team, well,
there'll probably be another entry in the journal.
Still on the list to finish, Europe w/Elena, Cousin Jon's wedding, Lori's new baby
my laguna seca motorcycle pictures and Ken's wedding.
One last bit of website maintenence, I've been re-organizing my internal
directory structure, so if you run across links or images that no longer
work feel free to drop me an email.
I've gotten most of the pictures converted/thumbnailed but still need to
put together the web pages for them. Following oldest first, I've finally
got Candice's wedding pictures up (

actually I thought I'd finished them long ago, but apparently not. I'm sure she'll
be mildly amused, I probably should send their wedding/house warming gift too. Good
thing Ms Manners says I have a year.
Work is still busy, and soon I'll be off to Ken and Dana's wedding for even more
pictures I'm sure. I'll try and get all of the pictures up soon (yeah right) but
at least most of the house work is under control (well, at least the things I had
on *my* list ;)
Still on the pictures to come list .. Christmas 2002 in LA (Elena's Mom, my granddad's
bday and Mason is getting bigger), Jon's wedding, pictures of Lori's new baby, and
who knows what else I'll find in my archives ;)
Middle of Labor Day weekend and I actually managed to put up all of the
pictures (and comments) from Caroline's housewarming/bday party ... you can find them

and no, I haven't forgotten about my backlog of pictures ... but these were pretty
fresh in my memory and I just had to put more comments in. Besides I told most
of the party folks where to find the pics .. something they may regret when

Still busy, managed a few movies, lots of pictures of Kenny's wedding but
those will have to wait on the queue. At least I'm starting to make a bit
of progress with the backlog. I finished
Mason's page with his Christmas 2002 pictures, my
Granddad's birthday
lunch. And I got around to
putting up some of the pictures from my
Christmas 2002 visit with Elena's family
Gah, you'd think that I'd be better about making entries, I was up in
Seattle last weekend, showing off Elena to the gang ;) and at my
sister's 40th bday party. The week (or so) before that I was at Laguna Seca
with the Seattle bikers. I decided to start working a bit on my site, maintence
wise, first it was upgrading sendmail because I kept getting way too much
spam. Then I started in on the back log of pictures.
