Must've played too hard on sunday .. now I'm recovering from a cold, just about well enough to travel, good thing too because its the start of the sonics season on Friday...

My scale now says I weigh 216 which would be about 14 lbs down from the start of the diet...now if I could only trust the scale, I think I'll have to get a newer one soon.

So its been almost a week on the Atkins .. still no real rice cravings so thats good, but I seem to be a bit hungry all the time and its hard to find things to eat when I go out because I don't like to graze. On the plus side it hasn't seemed to effected my stamina much .. I thought that I would crash faster when playing but it doesn't seem to be so. Today was the rev-coed draw tourny. It was pretty well run, especially for a free tournement ... in fact there were no prizes at all. Even still it was good to be out on the grass it's been about 2 years since I played grass at competative level, and 3 years since the last tourny.

Both Caroline and I were worried that we would be too rusty for a true open tournament, and the first match of the day was kind of challenging since most of the folks seemed to know each other and their syle of play .. some of them had never played 4's before let alone rev-coed 4's. I'm always amazed at the differences in level/skill/rules between here and Seattle. Very few if any of the guys hit really leading sets, mostly 8 foot attacks. Oh and they paint the grass so its hard to see if they're over, good thing it was a friendly tourny most of the reffing was decent and not too many arguements at all.

Anyway we did ok, we went 2-2 in pool with a +12 point differential, that folded us into the 6th seed and we won our first match before losing to the 4th seed. We were pretty happy, Caroline was banging balls hard in the morning before we moved her to the right side, and most of the morning I was actually passing/hitting since there were others that thought they were better setters... Most of the afternoon and playoffs I ended up setting .. that was kind of an adventure too becuase they were using the older beach rules ... they called "B" level in pool which was 3 forward rotations only, and then "A" level in playoffs which was 1 forward rotation only ... after I knocked the rust off it wasn't so bad but it was a little nerve racking at first .. its good to be challenged. In fact I managed some decent kills in the morning and wasn't really worked while passing probably because they didn't know that I spend all my time setting.
