Caroline & Andrew's Housewarming (8/30/2003) Warning these can take a while to load They're named strange because that is the way my digital camera auto-names them. Click on the thumbnails to see a larger form of the image. Caroline and her roommate Andrew were hosting a housewarming/birthday party over Labor Day weekend. Of course golf clubs are hard to wrap, so Andrew gave them to her a day early so that we could go out and hit some balls before setting up for the party. Since Rod wasn't going to make the party, Caroline decided to try her hand in the kitchen (I guess she's been practicing in Hawaii) in any case, after a long shopping spree at Costco she got to right to work and the results were excellent. I think that Rod's going to have to make her cook some at the next Aloha Sunday. People were showing up throughout the night, but the Texas clan was prompt (unlike most Californians) and showed up early to help setup. Here's Larry (sans hat for once) and Leland (?) who's birthday was the day before Caroline's. Leland's sister (Nikki?) was in town from Texas A&M so I just called her Aggie-gal, as you can see (and we found out first hand) she did live up to her school's party reputation.. Oh look, Larry put his hat back on ... Up from LA was Carla's friend Janelle (who's spelling was the topic of much discussion ... I never did figure out which to use ;) She was going to crash with Caroline that night, but somehow I don't think she got much sleep. Fran (in the background) was the blender master, first of all, he brought lots of flavoring ingredients, and then it was a slew of interesting mixes... This picture has a small world story... Kalai, knows Fran, who met Janelle via Carla (Caroline's sister), who went to school with Kalai in Hawaii ... Kalai brings Carolyn to the party ... who meets Janelle and realizes that they went to school together too (middle school?) its not surprising that 3 wahine's would've gone to school together somewhere ... I'll bet their related too ;) There was much visiting and eating all around, oh and my pseudo-neighbor Mary was there with yet another small world vollyball incident that we discovered later that night (I may write that one up in my journal) Liz mostly parked herself in the corner and was sooo entertained by us... ... but once you put the camera on her she tries to be pretty sociable... Since Caroline invited the new neighbors, there was no noise complaint to the police so some would say it really wasn't a party .. ... but when Scott and Alicia make the rounds you know its gonna still be fun. Check out her Batman shirt ... everyone really liked it .. and Scott didn't seem to mind the attention it generated, probably because he was drinking away the pain of his broken finger ;) It really was a pretty friendly crowd ... Here's one of the rare times that Carolyn wasn't on her cell phone, must've been because Keanu was on TV. If you meet her make sure you ask her what time of night constitutes a booty-call ... as she and Kalai left rather early for another party ... Those that left early missed out on the massage practice that Fran uses as an excuse to touch all of those women ... Of course, the excuse works well for women too ... Near the end of the evening (actually the morning of Caroline's birthday) Caroline made the mistake of asking Brian for a "very dirty, extremely grungy martini", this was the result.. Everyone proceeded to partake of the fun, regardless of orientation .... But Caroline was being a bit reluctant about downing it claiming it was "a bit too small" so Fran fixed it for her...
